Get a French driving license

Did you know it can take 6, 8 or even up to 12 months to exchange your driving license for a French one? This is no exaggeration; my husband and I experienced it first hand… We are from the EU so that’s no help either 😉
The ANTS (Agence nationale des titres sécurisés) is in charge of all driving license related requests and they are overwhelmed, to say the least. Your request will patiently wait in line, until all those received before yours are completed. Complexity has no influence really; a simple exchange request will take the same amount of time. You will get to see a message like this one:
So, don’t wait too long because once your foreign driving license has expired you are not allowed to drive and insurances won’t cover you anymore.

- Make sure all details are correct; you won’t be able to make changes once it’s sent
- Wait… be patient…
- Get your French driving license with a validity of 15 years!
